Good evening and praise the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord! It is an awesome thing to know that what lies ahead for us is far better than what we’ve already experienced. There’s a plethora of images that come to mind when we review our experiences in life, both positive and negative.
We have found ourselves on the precipice of major victories, only to see them turn into minor defeat. We have experienced pain, hurt, fear, frustration, rejection, and disappointments. We have experienced joy, happiness, the thrill of victory and the overwhelming sense of accomplishment.
The Apostle Paul stated in Philippians 4:12, I know how to be abased, and I know how to be abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
Contentment always seems to be easier said than done, it requires self-control and steadfastness in our faith. When we lack either of those things, we find ourselves on the side of complaining and frustration, rather than contentment and gratefulness.
Contentment is defined as: A mental or emotional state of satisfaction drawn from being at ease in one’s situation.
This is exactly where Paul was, he was at ease in his situation (no matter which one it was). When we have set our affections on those things which are above and not on those things which are on this earth, we can find satisfaction in whatever state we are in. We will be at ease, knowing that our present sufferings are nothing compared to our future state in Glory!
Knowing how bright our future is will allow us to rejoice and be exceeding glad in any situation. God is with us in each trial and in each triumph; He is with us during every heartache and during every hurray; He is with us during every heartfelt cry and also during every hearty session of sheer laughter. Because He is there, we can be at ease!!
Release your faith today and believe that God always has your best interest at hand, and that He will perfect those things which concern you. Cast your every care on Him, because He cares for you. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, live your life to please the Father and be AT EASE.
